USM completed lighting retrofits for several hundred retail stores and warehouse locations. The retrofits helped the client reduce their overall energy costs by 25 percent annually, generating savings of $18 million in two years. They are expected to see ongoing savings of $6 to $8 million annually. Further, we also helped the client access over $1.8 million in construction rebates.
Client Objectives
The client wanted to reduce their energy costs and carbon footprint by improving lighting efficiency and incorporating new lighting technologies.
Solutions
With cooperation from our client and a lighting fixture manufacturer, we developed an energy savings program. The program focused on:
- Replacing ceiling fixtures, primarily near racks and displays
- Installing motion detectors
- Upgrading fluorescent fixtures and lamps
- Retrofitting fixtures in employee areas
